Since its founding in 1932, the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry has played a prominent role in training highly qualified professionals for the textile industry in Uzbekistan and beyond. With a wide range of specialisations and a strong focus on practical experience and research, it has established itself as a leading institution in textile education.
The institute offers a variety of degree programmes that focus on different aspects of the textile industry. These include textile technology, textile design and textile management. In addition, the institute plays an important role in the preservation and promotion of traditional Uzbek textile craftsmanship.
One of the key areas researched and taught at the Taskent institute is twisting technology. Twisting is a fundamental process in textile manufacturing where two or more yarns are twisted to create a stronger and more durable end product. It has specialised twisting machines that enable students to acquire practical skills and familiarise themselves with the latest twisting technologies.
It is worth mentioning that the support of external partners makes a significant contribution to the institute's resources. In 2006, for example, Saurer Technologies provided a twisting machine free of charge, which was a decisive impetus for the development of the twisting technology department at the Tashkent institute. This generous donation has enabled students to learn on state-of-the-art equipment and hone their skills in twisting technology.
Saurer Technologies once again provided support in 2024, repairing the defective twisting machine free of charge and putting it back into operation, which is a further demonstration of Saurer's commitment to training and development in the textile industry in Uzbekistan.
In addition, the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry is involved in research and development projects in collaboration with the industry in order to develop and implement innovative technologies and processes for textile production. These partnerships not only promote the scientific excellence of the institute, but also contribute to the further development of the textile industry.
In addition to its modern orientation, the Taskent institute also remains committed to tradition. It is actively committed to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Uzbek textile craftsmanship. By integrating traditional techniques and patterns into the curriculum and research projects, the institute is helping to preserve the heritage of textile arts while driving innovation in the industry.
In this way, it makes a valuable contribution to the development of the textile industry in Uzbekistan and beyond.

We have the honour of informing you that we have received the spare parts for the twisting machine and were able to install them with the help of Saurer specialists.’
