Glass filaments: Global Players start to invest again

The glass filament market is definitely improving again concerning this year and the years to come after the cooldown during 2021/2022. Global Players start to invest again – and, due to good experiences, also into Saurer products.

Currently there are intense talks about investing with Sichuan Fiberglass, located in the Chinese province of Sichuan – this leading company started operating a large number of GlassTwisters (models VGT-11 and VGT-9) in the years 2016/2017. A visit from the customer to our location in Krefeld as well as to the trade fair ITMA in Milano is in preparation and the project is planned to be completed by the end of this year.

Modern applications lead to a rise in enquiries

One could argue that the growing interest in electro mobility and electro applications like Printed-Circuit-Boards and wind turbines as well as the automotive industry is the reason for the positive tendency within the market. Electro applications lead the charge concerning the current investments. These applications need glass fibre fabrics – the single yarns are produced in the highest possible quality with our Volkmann VGT machines.

New fields of application lead to a continuous growth of the market for glass filaments, resulting in an optimistic outlook into the future. During this year alone, there are supposed to be numerous projects in China, the biggest global market for glass filaments, to be concluded with our GlassTwister and CakeFormingWinder being in the centre of said projects.

A close collaboration with our customers

Saurer’s success is well-founded. For years Saurer has been working closely with the producers of glass filaments in order to adapt our VGT machines as well as our CakeFormingWinder as perfectly as possible to the needs of the market. These collaborations already brought results. The well-known advantages of our Saurer machines – efficiency, user friendliness und highest quality in the end product – can also be seen when it comes to the production of modern glass filaments sustainably.
