Back to the exhibition halls: A look at the JEC Composites

JEC Composites Paris 2024 was once again a fascinating showcase for the latest developments in the world of composites. Exhibitors from all over the world came together from 5–7 March 2024 to present innovative solutions and provide insights into the future of the industry.

Market recovery in China

In view of the current global situation, many manufacturers in Europe and the USA have been very reluctant to expend capital. However, in China – the main market for glass filament production – government-initiated investments since 2023 point to an initial market recovery in 2024. These new capacities are mainly focused on the PCB, reinforcement and wind turbine sectors.

Automation and innovation

Saurer Twisting Solutions presented the CakeFormingWinder and the new Automation business unit at the trade fair.

The glass filament winding machine (CakeFormingWinder) upstream in the process chain is characterised by new drive concepts and perfect coordination with the glass ring twisting processes. This means that downstream processes can be optimally harmonised. For the first time, this offers the market a supplier for both process steps, glass winding and glass twisting.

With an increasing focus on automation in capital expenditure, Saurer Twisting Solutions presented a new development for fully-automatic loading of the creels on the Saurer VGT glass ring twisting machines.

This ensures higher run-on weights and more careful handling of the glass packages.
