Saurer solutions inspire at JEC World 2022

Glass filaments continue to boom

The JEC World had to take a break for two years due to the coronavirus pandemic. This year it was finally time again: from 3 to 5 May 2022, the global composite community met in Paris to discover exciting new developments. It became apparent that the international market for glass filaments continues to boom. This sustainable growth is driven by the trend towards lightweight construction as well as the future-oriented industries of wind energy and telecommunications.

Great interest in the CakeFormingWinder

Saurer presented the CakeFormingWinder for the first time at JEC World. The new development optimises the manufacturing process of glass filaments. With its completely new rotor technology in this field of application and the integration of a high-speed traversing system, the innovative machine improves the process chain coordination of winding and twisting. For the first time, the two process steps are covered by one machine manufacturer and can be optimally coordinated with each other. The result is an even more productive manufacturing process with maximum added value for more profit and competitiveness.

Automation under discussion

The focus of many discussions was the new Saurer Business Unit Automation, which presented convincing solutions for the automated and classified onward transport of glass packages, especially for the CakeFormingWinder. The visitors agreed: safe and powerful automation is a central component in the manufacturing process of glass filaments and is crucial for sustainable market success.
