Barber pole yarn for bouclé carpets
A new field of application of the TechnoCorder
Bouclé carpets are the hot topic right now and are getting more and more popular. Not only do they look good, they also offer an exceptionally high level of living comfort. A typical characteristc of bouclé carpets are the uncut pile loops which consist of twisted yarns, multicoloured yarns or yarns dyed in a pattern.
Special challenges
The twisting of such yarns is done with two-for-one twisting machines - as it is customary for carpet yarns. However, the specialists still have to face special challenges:
First, the yarn count range of barber pole yarns lies in a spectrum where the yarn balloon already touches the separating walls of the spindle. Second, assembly-wound feed packages are being used. Thus, an unobstructed unwinding process of the feed packages is not possible without additional measures. Third, the processed yarn consists of wool and already dyed material leading to an extraordinary strain for the surface of yarn guiding parts.
Specifically engineered Saurer spindle equipment
Saurer engineers have considered all those challenges and developed a special spindle equipment for the TechnoCorder in order to guarantee a successful twisting process of barber pole yarns for bouclè carpets.
The relatively big yarn count ranges lead to a bigger yarn balloon diameter. Thus, the gauge 830 mm is to be used for barber pole yarns. A balloon limiter ring can be used in case this does not suffice. Saurer balloon limiter rings have a special surface making sure that threads touching the balloon limiter ring are not damaged.
A flyer (Campanello) is used in order to unwind processed yarns from the feed package without any problems - no ordinary Campanello but a specially for this field of application engineered smooth-running Campanello is to be used. The use of this smooth-running Campanello ensures an unobstructed unwinding process at high delivery speeds.
The fact that barber pole yarns mostly consist of wool and dyed yarns leads to an extraordinary strain on the yarn guiding parts during the twisting process. Those yarn guiding parts are equipped with special wear-and-tear resistant surfaces in order to negate wear-and-tear.
The combination of these equipment elements is the precondition of being able to twist barber pole yarns for bouclé carpets with the TechnoCorder - economically and at the best quality possible.
And with that, another field of application is added to the range of the TechnoCorder.
