Saurer Sirospun – create two-ply yarn on one machine

Companies looking to nearly double their yarn production have been using Sirospun from Saurer for years. With Sirospun, spinning mills can produce two-ply Siro yarns directly on Saurer ring- and compact-spinning machines and process them immediately in the winding department. The advantages of Sirospun are obvious. By doing away with twisting, plying and singeing, it eliminates entire work processes in the spinning mill. This reduces investment costs and the costs for energy and air conditioning. The leaner operational organization also reduces logistics and personnel expenses.

With Sirospun, two rovings are separated per spinning position, guided to the drafting system by special roving guides and warped independently of one another. As with ring-spinning, twisting takes place through the ring and ring traveller system. The simultaneously warped rovings are brought together at the drafting system outlet after the pair of rollers. Twisting continues to the clamping point. Both threads are combined with the previously determined twist to the desired yarn count. This process produces two-ply yarn with the same twist as single yarns.

On compact-spinning machines from Saurer, Sirospun is combined with Impact FX so that all the advantages of the self-cleaning compact spinning system also come into play in the production of yarns. The only difference: the Impact FX aprons for Siro yarns have double-row round holes for the two rovings.

A yarn with character

Sirospun creates a high-quality two-ply yarn with a unique character. It displays properties that are not comparable to conventional yarns. Siro yarns are characterized by high yarn strength, low hairiness, a smooth yarn surface and a round yarn cross-section.

These characteristics later give the fabrics special shine and grip, which is why Siro yarns are often processed into fine shirt fabrics and light gabardine fabrics. Siro yarns are also used in work clothes and increasingly for knitted items and in the denim sector.

Although the market for Siro yarns is small, it is growing constantly since the yarns are suitable for many applications and fashion trends continuously stimulate growth. Sirospun enables spinning mills to use the high-performance and extremely economical ring- and compact-spinning machines from Saurer in this segment also.
